Shanghai Wanxiang Blockchain Hackathon 2018
The Wanxiang Blockchain Labs have been creating a series of blockhain hackathons since 2017. It is one of the largest and renowned blockchain hackathon events in China. There are numerous passionate and talented developers have attended. EOI Digital’s very own co founder Amadeo Brands took part in the event in Shanghai with his team. They consisted of Andrey Bogomolov, Ted Wu and ShiTao He with the project Chain Estate as they worked their way into getting that coveted 1st place prize. They then moved onto the Factom Smart Contract Hackathon.
This year’s event aimed for global awareness and surpassed Chinese participants. They wanted to showcase the development and innovation of the blockchain technology worldwide. This year’s Blockchain Hackathon included Berlin, Silicon Valley and Shanghai Sections. Each section was co-hosted with a well-known local blockchain firm in each location.

The Challenge
There were 20 teams that battled with the theme of the challenge being “Blockchain Technology in Universal Innovation and Energy City”. There was also a special proposition from the sponsors. The challenge involved the Wanxiang Innova City as the first digitalized city. It runs on a secure and flexible cloud infrastructure that is enabled by blockchain. With the incorporation of artificial intelligence, IoT and cognitive computing on the edge, the city is able to pioneer the next level of urban intelligence. This will offer smart, services, residences and transportation. This will cover the complete life cycle of research, incubation, coversion, production and operation relating to these applications. They competed for 6 awards and 4 sponsors that were provided by Wanxiang Blockchain Lab. The participants also got a chance to choose a sponsor’s proposition that they can challenge.
Chain Estate
Included in these talented teams is the Chain Estate project, which Amadeo was part of, that won the first prize. This resulted because of the project being highly practical, complete demo and excellent presentation. They were rewarded with 50,000 RMB and 4 passes to attend the Blockchain International Week. Apart from that, they also got the Factom special awards wherein they could get to participate in the round-trip ticket for the “Factom Smart Contract and Identity Hackathon” competition. This will be held by Factom at the end of October.

Chain Estate won because of its efficiency. This project solved the problems and struggles that fast growing commercial real estate industries encounter as they move to being an innovative energy city. They made a mode to tokenize office space. Instead of the normal expansive agents that sell the office space, they have built smart contracts with embedded kYC and Whitelist. This will easily allow a more liquid real estate market. Each of the projects will be getting it’s own ERC20 Token while each floor will have its own ERC721 in order to separate ownership. This will also give better control of the open space and permit easier budget management.
